Overview
The Fairfax County Public Schools Summer Internship Program is a paid opportunity that gives high school students hands-on experience working within one of the largest school systems in the United States. During this six-week summer program, students work approximately 20 hours per week in various departments across the school division.
Interns may be placed in offices such as human resources, school operations, procurement services, facilities management, safety and security, or academic departments. Students assist staff with real projects and day-to-day operations while gaining insight into how a large public school system functions.
In addition to their daily work assignments, interns participate in professional development sessions that focus on workplace skills such as resume writing, networking, communication, and financial literacy. These workshops help students build skills that are valuable for future internships, jobs, and college applications.
This internship provides valuable exposure to careers in education, government, public administration, and organizational management.
