Overview
The Pathways Internship Program at NASA is a paid work-study program that allows students to gain hands-on experience working on real projects while completing their education. The program is designed to prepare students for future careers at NASA and may serve as a pathway to full-time employment with the agency after graduation.
Pathways interns work alongside scientists, engineers, and other professionals on projects that support NASA’s mission in areas such as space exploration, aeronautics, science research, and technology development. Internships are typically structured as rotational experiences, where students alternate between academic semesters and work assignments at NASA facilities.
Participants gain practical work experience, mentorship from NASA professionals, and opportunities to develop technical and professional skills. Interns also create an Individual Development Plan to guide their training and assignments during the program.
The program offers opportunities across many disciplines, including engineering, computer science, business, finance, communications, and other fields that support NASA’s mission.
