Overview
The Watershed Restoration Internship with the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection provides students with hands-on experience supporting projects that improve local streams, manage stormwater, and protect the environment. Interns work within the county’s Watershed Restoration Division on initiatives that help improve water quality and support sustainable environmental practices throughout the county.
During the internship, participants contribute to real-world environmental projects related to watershed management, stormwater programs, GIS mapping, and community outreach. Interns typically work 20–32 hours per week during the summer and collaborate with professionals such as engineers, biologists, and environmental planners.
Projects may involve analyzing environmental data, improving geospatial records, assisting with outreach programs that educate residents about watershed protection, and supporting sustainability initiatives across the county. The experience provides valuable exposure to careers in environmental science, public policy, conservation, and urban planning.
