Overview

SEAP places academically talented high school students with an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math as apprentices in Department of Defense laboratories for eight weeks each summer, including the Naval Research Laboratory here in Washington, DC.

Apprentices gain hands-on experience in scientific and engineering work under the mentorship of research personnel, with exposure to STEM activities not typically available in a school setting.

First-year interns receive a $4,000 stipend and returning interns receive $4,500; students are responsible for their own transportation.
